- Dovetail notches
- The Dovetail notch is a very traditional approach to building a log house. It has been around for centuries and has stood the test of time because of its simplicity, beauty and perfect function. The Dovetail corner has gained popularity with the “D” shaped profiles. Dovetail corners give a log home one of the tightest locking joints available.
- Square notches
- The Square Notch is often the most popular style used due to its traditional yet modern appearance. The Square Notch corner is usually constructed by a mortise and tenon joint where two logs meet and one log extends past the other intersecting log.
- Swedish cope notches
- Swedish Cope Notched logs are round on the inside and outside. The top is also left round. A half moon shaped groove is cut into the log along the bottom. This concave groove provides overlapping one log to the next when the log wall is stacked and gives this log style it’s name.
